ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (September 21, 2013) - The
25th-ranked Rollins volleyball team swept the GRU
Augusta Jags in straight sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-9) Saturday
afternoon at the Flagler Gymnasium in the first match of a
doubleheader.
Rollins bounced back from Wednesday night's loss and improves to
9-1 overall while GRU Augusta falls to 1-9 on the year.
Freshman Ruth
Harrington led the Tars with her third double-double of the
season. She registered 13 kills and 12 digs, to go with a .400
attack percentage. Camille
Indest was the only other Tars to register double-figure kills
with 10. The middle blocker hit .500 for the match and blocked
three balls at the net.
The Tars outhit the Jags .304-.056 with help from April
Jackson's 17 assists and MaryEllen
Pole's 16. The pair combined for 33 of the Tars' 39 team
assists.
Defensively, all but one Tar recorded at least one dig; Collyn
Welsch led all with 18.
Rollins led early throughout all sets, including their longest
run of the match in the second set with a 9-0 run to lead the
Jaguars 13-2. The Tars made especially quick work of their
opponents in the final set, holding GRU Augusta to nine
points.
Jenna Keeler led GRU Augusta with nine kills and six digs.
