WALTHAM, Mass. (April 28, 2013) - After taking a one-run lead in the top of eighth, the Rollins baseball team allowed two runs to cross in the bottom of the ninth, dropping a heartbreaking 3-2 decision to Bentley Sunday afternoon.

Rollins had double the hits compared to the home team with leadoff man Zach Persky notching a pair of base knocks. Persky also had one of the Tars' runs with Yuta Okazaki scoring the other. The Tars now fall to 22-19-1 while Bentley improves to 25-16.

The Falcons held Rollins scoreless through five straight innings as Bentley took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. In the top of the sixth, a sacrifice bunt by Steve Betcherman drove in Yuta Okazaki for the first Tars run, which evened the score.

In the top of the eighth, Zach Persky led off the frame on a single up the middle and then stole second. A sacrifice bunt moved him over to third and then scored on a Brian Lattanzi RBI single.

Rollins starter Taylor Smith faced two batters in the ninth before being replaced by Eric Morse. Smith was charged with the loss as he allowed three runs on three hits while striking out six.

Scott Lueders earned the win for Bentley as he pitched two innings in relief. Lueders allowed one run on four hits.

Rollins will return to Sunshine State Conference action on Friday, May 3 as they host the Nova Southeastern in the Tars' final home series of the season. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
