WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 4, 2013) - The Rollins
baseball team remains undefeated in Baseball Week and extends their
win streak to six consecutive games with a 13-2 victory over the
Stonehill Skyhawks Monday evening at Alfond Stadium.
Brian
Lattanzi and Brandon
Curson led the Tars offense as they had three hits apiece,
while Steve
Betcherman added two hits. Lattanzi also scored a game-high
four runs while Thomas
Kelly scored three.
Freshman Brandon
Burgess (1-0) earned his first start of his collegiate career
to pick up the win in six innings of work. The right-hander struck
out a game-high seven, issuing one walk and allowed one run on two
hits.
His counterpart Patrick Nicholson took the loss for the Skyhawks
in six innings of work as he allowed 10 runs on eight hits and
failed to record a strikeout. He also issued five walks.
Rollins registered at least one run in the first four innings of
play. The Tars scored two runs in the opening frame, followed by
one in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth.
Stonehill went scoreless through the first three innings before
putting up a run in the fourth by James DeAlto.
The Tars tacked on another run in the sixth before scoring
another three in the ninth. The Skyhawks, who tallied four hits on
the night, scored their final run in the seventh. DeAlto, along
with Anthony Pagano, Eric Schneider and Brett Matzen each had hits
for Stonehill.
Rollins will be back in action on Tuesday, March 5 as they face
Saint Anselm at 6 p.m. in the 65th Annual Rollins
