WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2013) - The Rollins
men's lacrosse team were overtaken by Wheeling Jesuit 17-9 Tuesday
afternoon despite hat tricks from Jack
Dever and Riley
Robinson. Rollins held a 5-3 lead at halftime but were
outscored 14-4 in the second half.
The Tars drop to 1-5 (1-2 DSC) on the season as the Cardinals
improve to 3-2 (2-1 ECAC).
Hunt
Bartram had a handful of highlight-reel plays on the day as he
registered a total of 16 saves on 32 chances. Freshman Alex
Petsos won 11-of-20 faceoffs in the contest. Six different
Tars registered assists as well.
Rollins scored the first goal of the game on a nice shot from Riley
Robinson, assisted by Jack
Dever. Wheeling Jesuit would sneak a trio of goals into the
home net, moving the score to 3-1, before the Tars put together a
scoring streak of their own featuring goals from Will
Diamond, Chris
Ross, Stephen
DeFlumeri and Dever. The Tars would take the 5-3 lead into the
break.
Wheeling Jesuit came out of the intermission with momentum,
scoring the first three goals of the third quarter and reclaiming
the lead at 6-5. Dever deposited goals two and three on the day,
sandwiched around a Cardinals score to deadlock the score at 7-7
with 25 minutes left to play. Robinson would add his second goal
of the game after a Wheeling Jesuit put one in the net to keep the
score tied at eight.
It was all Wheeling Jesuit from the 7:35 mark and on in the
third quarter on as they would score nine of the next 10 goals,
with the exception of Robinson's third goal of the game, bringing
the final score to 17-9 Cardinals.
Brian Frank had five goals and an assist for the Cardinals in
the victory.
The Tars return to action on Saturday, March 9 when they take on
Belmont Abbey. Action is slated to begin at noon at Barker Family
