SALISBURY, N.C. (March 30, 2013) - The Rollins men's lacrosse team suffered a heartbreaking 12-11 loss to the Catawba Indians in a Deep South Conference match up Saturday afternoon. Freshmen A.J. Gogan and Riley Robinson each had a hat trick on the day.

The Tars fall to 3-9 on the season and 2-4 in conference play while the Indians move to 5-7 and 3-3 in Deep South play.

Rollins entered the intermission down 5-3 as Gogan, Robinson and Jack Dever registered the first half goals for the Tars.

The Tars came out of the break on an offensive tear, scoring five of the first six goals in the period to take an 8-6 lead. Robinson, Adam Stefanowicz, Will Hauver and goals two and three for Gogan built the two point Tars advantage.

Freshman attack Stefanowicz recorded his second goal of the season later in the third period but the Indians also scored three times to tie the score 9-9 entering the final frame.

Catawba scored first in the fourth period to take a 10-9 lead but senior Austin Ricci answered back with his seventh goal of the season to level the score at 10 with just under 10 minutes left in the contest.

The Indians scored again to take a one-goal advantage before Robinson tallied his third goal of the game to tie the game 11-all with 1:44 left to play.

Catawba attack Steven Ridolfo sunk the Tars spirits by scoring the game-winning goal with 18 seconds left, making the final 12-11 in favor of Catawba.

Junior goalie Andrew Sheerin racked up 16 saves while seeing 47 Catawba shots.

Rollins will return to the field in Tampa on Friday, April 5 for a conference match up against the Spartans. Face off is slated for 7 p.m. For the latest news, updates and statistics on the men's lacrosse team, visit the Tars home on the web at RollinsSports.com.
