BOCA RATON, Fla. (February 9, 2013) - Rollins
built a lead after doubles, but Lynn overcame in singles as the
sixth-ranked Tars were dealt a 6-3 loss to the third-ranked
Fighting Knights.
Rollins (1-2, 1-1 Sunshine State Conference) had Lynn (2-0, 1-0
SSC) staggering at the beginning.
For LU, fourth-ranked Vlad Cirla and Willi Wolfer beat Will Kwok
and Robin Marchione 8-2 in the top doubles flight. However, Rollins
came back to win the next two points.
Jason Alabaster and Jacobo Herrero teamed to down Max Kouyate
and Alessio Iannozzi 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. The Tars then took the
lead as Adrian Di Felice and Cooper Maxwell took Pavel Mohja and
Simon Gioeckner 8-5 in the third doubles flight.
In singles, Lynn scored the first five points to capture the
match.
At No. 1, Malte Christesen fell to fourth-ranked Wolfer 6-1, 6-1
while Rollins' Herrero was beaten by Mohja 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 5
flight.
Alabaster was dealt a 6-3, 6-0 loss to Gleckner at No. 6, Di
Felice fell to Kouyate 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 and Kwok lost 7-5, 6-3 to
17th-ranked Cirla at No. 2.
Marchione remained unbeaten on the season, scoring a 2-6, 6-1,
6-1 win over 28th-ranked Alessio Iannozzi in the No. 3
match.
Rollins will continue its South Florida swing Sunday, Feb. 10
playing at No. 4 Barry.
