CARROLLTON, Ga. (October 18, 2013) - Rollins
used an all-around team effort in their opening match of the
GSC/SSC Crossover as the Tars notched a 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 25-8,
25-22) victory over the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers Friday
night.
Rollins hit .297 as a team, holding UAH to a .132 attack
percentage. The Tars had their best set in the opening frame
hitting a .457 on 18 kills with two errors, winning 25-17. Kelly
Merideth recorded almost half of her 13 kills in the first set
with six. She finished the day with her third double-double,
adding 14 digs.
In the second set, Rollins wasn't as responsive as the set saw
11 ties and six lead changes. The Tars dropped the set 26-24 with
the final tie at the 24-all mark on a block by UAH. Back-to-back
defensive miscues by the Tars handed the Chargers the win.
Rollins came back with fiery in the third set, winning 25-8.
That was the second time this season the Tars had held an opponent
to eight points in a set. Rollins went on an 11-0 run to lead
15-5, forcing a Chargers timeout. The Tars then closed out the set

Indest and Aroon
Duncanson each registered six kills apiece in the set.
In the final frame, Rollins sealed the match with a 25-22 win.
The Tars started off strong but found themselves trailing the
Chargers midway through the set. Rollins was able to rally and
even the score at 22-all, closing the set on a 5-0 run. Indest led
the way in the final set as she registered eight of her 17 kills in
the fourth.
Along with Indest's 17 kills and Merideth's 13, Kate
Stefanski notched 13 kills and Jessica
Wilson 12. Setter April
Jackson had a career day as she recorded 53 assists.
On the defensive side, four Tars posted double-figure digs. Collyn
Welsch led with 19 while Ruth
Harrington posted 17. Merideth had 14 on the night with
Jackson adding 11 for her fourth double-double of the year.
Rachel Brugman and Haley Snyder were the Chargers' top
performers recording 12 and 11 kills respectively.
Rollins will conclude the GSC/SSC Crossover on Saturday, Oct. 19
with an 11:30 a.m. match against host West Georgia and a 4:30 p.m.
match against Shorter.
