ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (September 7, 2012) -
In a rematch of the Tars' previous match, the
Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons outlasted Rollins in
five and defeated the Tars 15-25, 30-28, 25-22, 17-25, 10-15 Friday
afternoon. Rollins now falls to 2-3 on the season while MSU
Moorhead advances to 6-1.
A trio of Tars led the way as Camille
Indest matched her career-high of 19 kills, to go along with
seven blocks and six digs. Freshman Aroon
Duncanson registered 15 kills with five digs and one block,
while Collyn
Welsch recorded her second double-double of the season with 11
kills and a career-high 28 digs.
Aiding in the Tars' 60 team kills was Kiana
Parks with 51 assists. Defensively, the Tars tallied 102 digs,
the fourth-most team digs in program history.
After dropping the first set 25-15, Rollins bounced back in the
second and third sets as they recorded scores of 30-28 and 25-22.
The Tars rallied in the second set to notch the win and used a
block from Welsch and Indest to secure the win. A serving error by
the Dragons evened the score at 28-all.
In the final set of the match, MSU Moorhead jumped on the board
quick and took a 5-1 lead over the Tars, forcing a Sindee
Snow timeout. Rollins was able to come within two at the 8-6
mark as an attack error by the Dragons gave the Tars the point.
Blocks from Abby Wolpern and Kaitlin VanWinkle gave the Dragons the
15-10 win.
Rollins will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 8 as they face
Northwood University (Mich.) at Noon, followed by Newberry College
at 3 p.m. Fans can follow the action live on the Tars Sports
