WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 21, 2012) - The
Rollins volleyball team opened up Sunshine State Conference action
in the friendly confines of Warden Arena and suffered a 3-0 (13-25,
19-25, 14-25) loss to the No. 7 Tampa Spartans.
Leading the Tars offense was Camille
Indest with nine kills and four digs while April
Jackson added 15 assists. Defensively, Christina
Carracino registered 15 digs.
Rollins struggled in the opening frame hitting .059 as a team.
Indest registered four of her nine kills in the first set. The
seventh-ranked Spartans closed out the set on a 5-0 run and won by
a score of 25-13.
In the second set, the Tars fared better hitting a .160 as a
team but went down 25-19. The Tars and Spartans tied the score on
seven occasions with the final tie coming from Tampa at 11-all.
The Spartans then went on a 4-0 run to take a 15-11 lead. Rollins
followed that set with a 25-14 loss in the third set.
Three Spartans led the way for Tampa with Danielle Selkridge and
Jessica Yingling each posting 12 kills apiece while Holly Reschke
added 11.
The Tars will be back in SSC action on Saturday, Sept. 22 as
they play host to the Eckerd Tritons. Match time is set for 4
