WINTER PAR, Fla. (March 23, 2012) - The Rollins
baseball team opened up its 2012 Sunshine State Conference slate
against the 15th-ranked Fighting Knights and fell 11-2
Friday night at Alfond Stadium.
The Tars snap a four-game win streak and fall to 17-7 on the
season and begin conference play with a 0-1 mark. No. 15 Lynn
improves to 19-7 overall and 3-1 in the SSC.
Only four Tars registered hits while Boston
Langley and Brandon
Curson were the only runs scored. Sean
Reilly and Curson were also credited with an RBI.
Rollins scored its only two runs in the bottom of the eighth as
Langley hit a lead-off double. He then came around on a Curson
pinch-hit double. Curson then scored the Tars' final run on a
two-out Reilly RBI single.
Lynn got on the board early plating three unearned runs in the
top of the second. The Fighting Knights then added another run in
the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. LU starter Shawn Kale had a no-no
going through six before Nick
Adams laced a ball straight up the middle with two outs. Kale
earned the win in 7.2 innings of work while striking out seven
Rollins batters, allowing three walks.
The Fighting Knights added lone runs in the fifth and seventh
innings before putting up a five-spot in the top of the ninth.

Blanton gave up a grand slam after coming into relief for Adam
Ogburn.
Rollins starter Taylor
Smith (3-1) was charged with the loss going 7.0 innings and
allowing six runs (two earned) on eight hits. He also struck out
one and issued one walk.
The Tars wrap up the weekend series against Lynn on Saturday,
