No. 11 Rollins Steps Out of SSC Play to Meet PBA

AT A GLANCE - Firmly on top of the Sunshine State Conference standings and keeping a close eye on second-place Barry, 11th-ranked Rollins takes a step out of SSC play to host Palm Beach Atlantic Wednesday. The Tars have won two-straight to stand at 17-3 overall and 9-2 in the conference. Barry (14-6, 8-2 SSC) is at Lynn Wednesday as the race for the regular season title heats up in the final three weeks. Rollins is coming off a hard fought 62-55 road win over Eckerd on Saturday. Ashley Jones hit five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points for the Tars. Paris Moore added 12 points and, with three steals, moved into 10th on the Tars all-time list (202), passing Kim (Tayrien) Wilkes. Kourtnie Berry netted eight to give her 801 career points, ranking 26th in Tars history. Sporting the nation's eight-ranked defense, Rollins allows just 52.7 points a game and has surrendered over 60 points just three times on the season. On offense, Rollins is putting up 66 points a game and is one of the top teams in the nation taking care of the ball. The Tars rank 11th in Division II with 14 turnovers a game, while standing 10th in turnover margin (+6.8). Rollins is 11-0 at home this season and is riding a 17-game nonconference winning streak in Warden Arena...Palm Beach Atlantic is 7-15 on the year and currently on a three-game losing skid. They last played Barry on Feb. 1, falling 66-47. The 'Fish net 55.3 points a night and allow opponents 60.7 a game. PBA is one of the nation's top teams at the free throw line, shooting better than 70 percent from the stripe while ranking 29th in Division II in 3-point field goals per night. The Sailfish are 1-8 on the road this season.

THE STARS - Ashley Jones is the only Tar to average in double-figures, netting 12 points a game. Kourtnie Berry adds 8.4 points a night with Paris Moore and Sarah Blackburn each chip in seven a game - both pull down 4.2 rebounds a night. Kristina Mingo's 4.8 boards pace the Tars while Tera McDaniel's 3.3 assists and Moore's 2.5 steals a game top the team...Selethia Jackson leads with 12.2 points and 7.5 rebounds a night. Jordan Kong adds 11.1 points while Ashley Dolberry chips in 9.5 points and 7.9 boards.

THE COACHES - Glenn Wilkes Jr. (Stetson '81) is in his 26th season leading the Tars and has built Rollins into a SSC powerhouse and national contender year in and year out. His career record of 571-184 is the 39th best mark among active coaches in all divisions and the seventh most victories among Division II active coaches... Clarisse Garcia (Villanova '07) is 15-35 in her second season at the helm of Palm Beach Atlantic.

THE SERIES - Rollins is 12-0 all-time against the Sailfish. Earlier this season, the Tars rode into PBA on a nine-game winning streak and eked out a 57-54 win. Ashley Jones led the Tars with 11 points while Loren Wilkins netted 17 to pace the 'Fish.
