WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 11, 2012) -
Rollins took a 2-1 lead after doubles play but was swept in
singles as the ninth-ranked Tars lost to top-ranked Lynn 7-2 in the
2012 season opener Saturday.
Elissa DeCampli and Callie Whitlock teamed to down Andrea Berkova and Kim
Przeszlowki 8-4 in the No. 2 match while Bradleigh Lore and Ashley Rosenberg joined to take Ana Kriz and Roxane
Alexandru 9-8(3) at No. 3.
The Fighting Knights (2-0) picked up a point in the No. 1 match
with fifth-ranked Ioana Ivan and Sabine Krause downing Lisa Loft and Stefania Tkach 8-3.
Rollins (0-1) was unable to keep the momentum rolling in
singles, however, dropping each of the six matches.
In the top flight match, fifth-ranked Ivan defeated
26th-ranked Loft 6-1, 6-0 while Berkova downed Tkach
6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2 match. Rollins' Ashley Rosenberg matched up with
30th-ranked Krause at No. 3, and fell 6-2, 7-5 with Sara Stosljevic dropping a 6-2, 6-2 decision to
Kriz at No. 4.
DeCampli lost 6-3, 6-3 to Przeszlowski in the No. 5 match and
Whitlock was defeated 6-2, 6-4 by Vukadinovic at No. 6.
Rollins next travels to Daytona Beach to face NAIA third-ranked
Embry-Riddle on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 3:30 p.m.
