WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 5, 2012) - The
Rollins volleyball team suffered a straight-sets loss (18-25,
21-25, 15-25) to rival Florida Southern Friday night at Warden
Arena. The Tars now drop to 8-8 overall and 2-3 in conference
play.
Reigning AVCA National Player of the Week Camille
Indest led the Tars with 14 kills, to go along with two digs
and two blocks, while hitting at a .310 clip. Senior setter Kiana
Parks recorded her third double-double of the season with 22
assists and a season-high 13 digs.
Junior Megan
Hodges made her debut after suffering an injury early on in the
season. Hodges registered five kills and three digs.
Florida Southern made quick work of the Tars in the opening
frame, 25-18, but battled through the second set. The score tied
nine times with eight lead changes. Rollins came within two of the
Mocs at the 22-20 mark on a kill by Indest, forcing a FSC timeout.
Southern then went on a 3-2 run to close the set.
In the third and final set, Florida Southern jumped out ahead on
a 4-0 run, but the Tars slowly made up the deficit to tie the score
at 6-all. Rollins was then unable to make up ground on the Mocs,
falling 25-15.
A pair of Mocs led the way for Florida Southern as sophomore
Kate Stromberg registered 15 kills and nine digs. Anne Pietkiewicz
added 10 kills with 13 digs.
Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 6 as they host
the Saint Leo Lions. Match time is set for 4 p.m. Fans can catch
