TAMPA, Fla. (October 20, 2012) - The Rollins
volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (24-26, 21-25, 20-25) decision to the
No. 22 West Florida Argos to conclude the 2012 Red Elephant
Café South Region Crossover hosted by the University of
Tampa.
Camille
Indest led all scorers with 13 kills, to go along with three
digs and one block. Megan
Hodges added 11 kills with five digs and three blocks.
April
Jackson chipped in with 19 assists while MaryEllen
Pole tallied 13. Defensively, Christina
Carracino registered 18 digs.
In the opening frame, Rollins went point-for-point with the
22nd-ranked Argos as a kill from Megan
Hodges tied the score at 24-all. The Tars were unable to build
on the momentum and handed West Florida set point on a serving
error. An attack error by the Tars handed UWF the 26-24 win.
Rollins was unable to keep up with the fast-paced Argos in the
second set as they fell behind early on. West Florida posted a
25-21 win.
In the third set, the Tars managed to make a small comeback to
tie the score at 14-all on another Hodges kill. A kill from West
Florida's Jenny Bellairs gave way for the Argos to extend their
lead and take a 25-20 win.
Autumn Duyn led the No. 22 Argos with 13 kills while Colleen
Starrs posted 19 digs.
The Tars will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 23 in their
final non-conference match of the season as they host Armstrong
Atlantic. Tuesday's match will also mark the Tars' Dig Pink match
in support of breast cancer. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
