AT A GLANCE - After a heartbreaking overtime
loss to Eckerd its last time out, Rollins will look to pick up the
pieces and keep pace in the Sunshine State Conference with a trip
to Lynn on Wednesday. The Tars (9-4) won the first seven games of
the season, but are just 2-4 since. Despite the recent downturn,
Rollins finds itself just half a game out of first in the SSC
standings, tied with two others at 2-1 in second place. The Tars
are scoring 69.5 points a game, shooting 43 percent from the field.
They have struggled from 3-point range, hitting just 31 percent on
the season, and 28 percent over the last five-games. On defense,
the Tars surrender 65.5 points a game and rank second in the SSC by
allowing opponents to shoot 41 percent. Rebounding has also been a
struggle for the Tars as they rank last in the SSC with a minus 4.3
rebounding margin...Lynn is 9-6 on the season and has won six of
its last seven, including an 80-58 triumph over Palm Beach Atlantic
the last time out. The Knights haven't played at home since Dec. 19
and are 6-3 in the friendly confines on the season. They rank fifth
in the SSC with 74.3 points of offense and are third in defense,
allowing 62.3 points a night. Lynn is hot from long range, hitting
39 percent to lead the SSC. LU is on the opposite end of the
rebound spectrum from Rollins, leading the conference with a +3.9
margin on the glass.
THE STARS - Coming off a 20-point game against
Eckerd, Myk Brown leads Rollins in scoring with 13.4 a night.
Jeremy Sharpe adds 12.2 points a game while Dave Diakite nets 11.2
a game. Chris Malcolm averages 9.8 points and a team-best 6.7
rebounds a game...Josh Garcia paces the Knights offense with 12.5
points a game while Slobodan Miljanic adds 11.3 a night. Brandon
Smith is netting 10.3 points a game and Michel Vidal leads the SSC
with 9.3 rebounds a game.
THE COACHES - Tom Klusman (Rollins '76), now in
his 32nd year at the helm of his alma mater, ranks fifth among
active Division II coaches and ranks 18th all-time with a record of
583-321... Scott McMillin (Buffalo '98) in in his eighth year
leading Lynn and holds a career record of 143-104.
THE SERIES - Rollins leads the all-time series
with Lynn 18-11 and is riding a five-game winning streak. The
Knights last bested the Tars on Jan. 14, 2009 in Boca Raton, 73-70.
The Tars took the last meeting 98-68. Nick Wolf netted 23 to pace
Rollins while Rodney Kenney hit 15 to pace Lynn.
UP NEXT - Rollins will be on the road again
Saturday, traveling to Saint Leo to take on the SLU Lions at 4 p.m.
They will then return home to host Barry on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at
7:30 p.m.
