WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (September 14, 2011) -
Rollins remained unbeaten on the season after a 2-0 shutout of
Northwood on the road Wednesday.
Michelle Dillingham stopped two shots to earn the victory
between the posts and is one of just seven goalkeepers in the
nation yet to allow a goal on the season.
Ali Schrader and Laura Piedrahita earned goals for
16th-ranked Rollins (4-0-1) with Emma Jones and Kelsey
Boone recording assists.
Northwood, ranked 23rd in the latest NAIA national
poll, falls to 2-1-1 on the season.
Rollins got on the board in the 38th minute as Jones
dribbled unopposed straight through the middle of the field and
found Schrader who beat the keeper in the upper 90.
Piedrahita scored her first collegiate goal in the
70th minute to give the Tars a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Boone worked up the right side and was rubbed off the ball, but
gathered it enough for a pass to Piedrahita for the score.
Rollins earned six corner kicks to just two from the Seahawks,
and also led on the shot chart 11-5.
Rollins will open up Sunshine State Conference play on
Wednesday, Sept. 21 at home against Tampa. Game time is slated for
7 p.m. Fans can watch all the action live on the Tars Sports
Network at RollinsSports.com.
