LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (April 3, 2011) - Two Tars
tallied hat tricks on the afternoon as the ninth-ranked Rollins
women's lacrosse team defeated the Edinboro Fighting Scots at
Charlotte Smith Field on the campus of Lock Haven University,
Sunday afternoon. Rollins rebounds after a tough loss to No. 2
Lock Haven on Friday, and advances their overall record to 8-3.

Giannerini and Sophie
Townsend led the team with three goals apiece, followed by Erica
Pagliarulo with two goals and an assist for three points on the
afternoon. Senior Katy
Tyszko posted a three point performance, as well, with one goal
and two assists. Anna
Townsend and Caroline
Lamere netted two goals apiece, with Cat
Kelley rounding out the goal count with one of her own as a
total of seven Tars put goals on the scoreboard.
Scoring a game-high four goals was Edinboro's Shannon Rohrich.
Rebecca Zajac, Kaitlin Magee, and Leeanne Stickle score one each as
the Fighting Scots lost their fourth consecutive contest and
dropped to a mark of 3-7 on the season.
The Tars were turned away by Edinboro goalie Teresa Fiori, who
set aside 15 shots on the afternoon. Her counterpart between the
pipes for Rollins, Elyse
De Lisle, made a total of seven saves after seeing a total of
16 shots and 14 shots on frame.
Rollins opened the game with a three goal lead before EU could
put a goal on the scoreboard in the seventh minute of action. The
Tars allowed only one more Edinboro goal throughout the first half,
and tacked on six more to enter into the break with a 9-2
advantage.
The Tars opened the second half much like the first, netting
three consecutive goals to pull ahead to a 12-2 lead over their
competition with 20:25 remaining in the game. The Fighting Scots
finally found their stride, and placed the ball between the pipes
to notch three consecutive goals to close the gap to 12-5 with
11:49 on the clock. But the Tars broke the streak with a goal from
Pagliarulo with 8:48 on the clock to pull ahead to a 13-5 lead.
Edinboro netted two more before Rollins closed out the scoring
with an unassisted goal from Giannerini to end the game with a
final score of 14-7.
Rollins won the draw count, finding success on 15-of-23, with
Pagliarulo winning a team best three, and Tori
Snow, Katie
Palasz, Anna
Townsend, and Caroline
Lamere winning two each. The Tars also won the ground ball
battle 25-18. Palasz earned a game-high five on the afternoon, and
earned another game-high with four caused turnovers.
The Tars return to action in their final contest of a three-game
road trip in Pennsylvania, traveling to Millersville University on
Monday, April 4, for a 4 p.m. matchup against the Marauders. Fans
