Rollins Suffers 12-6 Decision to Florida Memorial

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 29, 2011) - The Rollins Tars suffered a 12-6 decision to the Florida Memorial Lions on Friday night at Alfond Stadium.

Rollins trailed early on giving up six runs in the first two frames and another six in the fifth. The Tars were at half the deficit, 12-6, in the fifth scoring five runs in the first and second and a lone run in the fifth.

Brian Lattanzi was 2-4 on the night with a run scored and an RBI and scored Rollins' lone run in the fifth on solo shot over the leftfield wall, his first on the season.

Chris Holloway and Josh Band also had two hits for Rollins, while Nick Adams added a pair of runs for the Tars.

After giving up the six runs in the fifth, right hander Garrett Yount came up big for the Tars retiring the sixth facing one batter, Brian Bernatowicz, picking off Andy Ruiz, followed by a Sean Reilly throw down catching Erick Yglesias on the run at second. Yount then struck out Bernatowicz for the final out.

Both teams remained scoreless in the final four innings of play. FMU outhit Rollins 20-12 by game end as each team committed a single error.

Florida Memorial reliever J. Sensat was very effective on the mound for the Lions earning the win in 6 1/3 innings of work. Sensat gave up one earned run on five hits.

Rollins starter Mike Howard was charged with the loss tossing four complete innings. He stuck out three and walked two.
