Rollins Sweeps Singles to Get Past St. Mary's

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (March 5, 2010) - Rollins was upset in the top doubles match, but won the rest and then swept through singles as the sixth-ranked Tars posted an 8-1 win over St. Mary's (Texas) on Saturday.

The win moves Rollins to 3-4 on the season.

The fourth-ranked duo of Jeff Morris and Neil Clausen were stunned in the top doubles match, falling to Marcin Marczewski and Guy Rutten 9-7.

That would be it for the Rattlers, however, as Rollins would go on to win in convincing fashion.

Arturo Baravalle and Sebastian Hafner teamed to beat Jake Williams and Andrej Klipa 8-1 in the No. 2 match while 24th-ranked Chris Herbert and Nick Rowlands took Carlos Olea and Nestor Moreno 8-3 at No. 3.

In singles play, fifth-ranked Morris won 6-3, 6-3 over Marczewski while 46th-ranked Baravalle won 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 over Klipa at No. 2.

Hafner defeated Moreno 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 and David Yawalkar downed Olea 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 4 match. Herbert defeated Rutten 6-3, 6-2 and Nick Nieto down Williams 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 6.

Rollins will be back in action on Sunday, March 6 against Incarnate Word.
