SAN ANTONIO, Texas (March 6, 2011) - For the
second straight match, Rollins swept through singles play as the
sixth-ranked Tars defeated Incarnate Word 8-1 on Sunday.
The victory evens the Tars' record at 4-4 on the season as they
have won two in a row on the spring break trip to Texas.
The Tars lost just one point in doubles play with
24th-ranked Chris
Herbert and Nick
Rowlands falling to Leury Arias and Chris Lawson 8-2 in the top
flight.
Arturo
Baravalle and Sebastian
Hafner teamed to down David Ballenger and Luke Trautmann 8-5 in
the No. 2 match while Jeff
Morris and Jason Alabaster defeated Carlos Olvera and Aiden
DeLeon 8-3 at No. 3.
Once again, singles belonged to Rollins as they won each match
in straight sets.
Fifth-ranked Morris blanked Arias 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 match
while 46th-ranked Baravalle dropped Lawson 7-5, 6-3 at
No. 2. Hafner was a 6-1, 6-3 victor against Olvera and David
Yawalkar downed Brandon Davis 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4. Herbert took
Ballenger 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 and Alabaster won the No. 6 match over
Trautmann 6-4, 7-5.
Rollins will complete its Texas trip on Monday, March 7 against
15th-ranked St. Edwards.
