LA Jolla, Calif. (March 6, 2011) - Down after
doubles, 10th-ranked Rollins swept singles play and
defeated UC San Diego 7-2 on Sunday.
The Tars improve to 8-2 on the season while the Tritons drop to
4-5.
In the top doubles match, 24th-ranked Margaret Junker
and Kayli
Ragsdale was upset by Haley Perrotte and Taskeen Bain 8-4 while
Roshni
Luthra and Allie
Steele fell to Roxane Pourmirzaie and Katie Mulloy 8-5 at No.
3.
The Tars picked up a point at No. 2 doubles as Lisa
Loft and Ashley
Rosenberg won 8-4 over Cindy Dao and Jacquelyn Davis.
Singles play belonged to Rollins as the Tars won four of the six
matches in straight sets. At No. 1, 26th-ranked Luthra
was a 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 winner over Bain and Junker stayed perfect on
the season with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 victory over Dao at No. 2.
Loft won 6-0, 6-2 over Breisacher in the No. 3 match, Stefania
Tkach took Samantha Yeung 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 and Rosenberg took
Katie Mulloy 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 5 match. Mariana
Salvador completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over
Jacquelyn Davis in the No. 6 position.
Rollins will be back in action on Tuesday, March 8 at Cal State
L.A.
