ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 22, 2011) - After
being shutout in its last match, 10th-ranked Rollins
bounced back in a big way, defeating Eckerd 9-0 in Sunshine State
Conference action on Tuesday.
Rollins improves to 12-4 on the season and 3-1 in the SSC while
Eckerd falls to 2-8, 0-4.
The Tars announced their presence with authority as
24th-ranked Margaret Junker and Kayli Ragsdale posted an
8-1 win over Emmy Laing and Amanda Teets at No. 1 doubles. Lisa
Loft and Stefania Tkach blanked Stephanie Jenks and Telara Buelow
8-0 at No. 2 while Roshni Luthra and Allie Steele downed Christine
Hammerschmidt and Sonnet Ludwig 8-1 at No. 3.
In the top singles match, 26th-ranked Luthra defeated
Laing 7-6(4), 7-5 with Junker shutting out Jenks 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.
Loft won 6-0, 6-2 over Teets in the No. 3 match and Tkach blanked
Buelow 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4.
Mariana Salvador defeated Hammerschmidt 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5
match and Ragsdale won the No. 6 position 6-0, 6-1 over Ludwig.
Rollins will be back at home on Wednesday, March 23 in a
Sunshine State Conference match with Saint Leo. Competition is
slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
