FLORENCE, S.C. (March 13, 2011)- Coming off a
no-hitter from Hope
Bitzer the Tars kept on rolling with four victories at the
Francis Marion Patriot Invitational to remain undefeated.
After knocking off No.15 Lenoir-Rhyne, Rollins returned to the
diamond and kept on their winning ways taking a 10-0 victory over
West Liberty and an 8-0 decision over Brevard, Saturday
afternoon.
Redshirt freshmen, Amye McIntyre led the way for the Tars
completing a perfect game for Rollins. She tallied nine strikeouts
through five innings of work, including striking out the side in
the third and fourth inning. McIntyre joins an elite list of
pitchers having completed a perfect game at Rollins with the last
Tar to record a perfect game was Kirsten
Frame, who completed the feat against Albany St. in an 8-0
shutout. In that game Frame collected seven strikeouts and faced
the minimum amount of batters in the shortened game.
Rollins took to the field early Sunday morning to claim a 4-0
victory of Catawba and then followed the performance up with a 5-1
victory over the host Francis Marion, Sunday afternoon.
