VALDOSTA, Ga. (February 18, 2011) - The
10th-ranked Rollins women's tennis team made easy work
of Valdosta State (0-3), sweeping the Blazers 9-0 and giving up
only one set on Friday at the VSU Tennis Courts.
Rollins (3-0) started the day with a sweep of the three doubles
matches. In the No. 3 slot, Roshni
Luthra and Allie
Steele defeated Nicole Hernandez and Leslie Roberge 8-0 for the
first win. The top flight duo of No. 24 Margaret
Junker and Kayli
Ragsdale earned an 8-2 decision over Alina Nagel and Jessica
Tuggle before Lisa
Loft and Ashley
Rosenberg secured the third set 8-3 over Kristel de Groot and
Sarah Braun.
The Tars continued to trounce their opponent in singles action,
with Mariana
Salvador defeating Jahyna Pop 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 position
for the first singles victory of the day. Rosenberg continued with
a 6-2, 6-0 win over Roberge in the No. 5 slot, followed by Stefania
Tkach who defeated Tuggle 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 4 position.
Junker picked up the next win defeating Nagel 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2,
followed by Loft who took down Hernandez 6-3, 6-1.
26th-ranked Luthra dropped the first set to opponent
Braun 5-7, but took the next two 6-3, 6-3 (6) for the final win of
the day.
The Tars return to action on Saturday, February 19, when they
take on West Florida on Valdosta's courts.
