WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 17, 2011) - After
posting their second straight 20+ win season and earning a second
consecutive postseason berth, three Tars were named to the 2011
All-Sunshine State Conference Volleyball Team. Megan Hodges earned
first team honors, while Phoebe Corder was named honorable mention
and Jessica Wilson to the all-newcomer team, it was announced
Thursday.
Hodges, a 6-1 outside hitter, led the Tars offense with a
league-leading 4.26 kills per set, which ranks 15th in
the nation. She is also averaging 4.78 points per set to rank her
19th amongst all Division II players. On the season,
Hodges has tallied 12 double-doubles; including a career high 28
kills against Florida Tech. Hodges is also a 2011 Daktronics
All-South Region selection.
Phoebe Corder, the lone senior on the Tars squad, ranks fourth
in the SSC with 3.83 digs per set. She will leave Rollins as the
all-time digs leader with 2,105 digs, surpassing former Tar Kim
Cline. Corder is also the only Tar to have reached the 2,000
career dig plateau.
Freshman Jessica Wilson earns her first collegiate accolade
being named to the All-Newcomer Team. Wilson ranks seventh in the
conference in hitting with a .326 clip and is third on the Tars
squad. In conference only contests, the 5-9 middle blocker, ranks
11th in service aces (16).
Rollins will face the North Alabama Lions in the first round of
the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament. First serve is set
