WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 30, 2011) - The
Rollins Tars volleyball team swept the Nova Southeastern Sharks in
three (25-20, 25-19, 25-21) on Friday evening at Warden Arena.
Rollins improves to 10-7 on the season and 3-2 in the SSC, while
Nova Southeastern falls to 3-11 overall and 1-4 in conference
play.
The Tars were led by three in double-figures with Collyn Welsch
tallying a match-high 11 kills, while Camille Indest and Megan
Hodges each added 10 apiece. Kiana Parks assisted in 38 of the 44
total kills, while Hodges led the team in defensively with 10
digs.
Rollins scored five straight points in game one to take a 6-1
lead over the Sharks, but five straight points by NSU knotted up
the score at 6-all. The Tars were then able to utilize a kill by
Welsch that built some momentum to grab a strong lead over Nova.
The Sharks were able to come within four of Rollins at the 23-19
mark, but a kill by Hodges sealed the game one win.
After taking an easy game one win, Rollins was able to make
quick work of their opponent in the final two sets as they won by
scores of 25-19 and 25-21. The Tars hit .229 on the game while NSU
hit a .165, while leading in all but one statistical category
(blocks).
Nova Southeastern was led by Molly Sigerich with seven kills and
two blocks, while Danielle Graham added five kills and six
digs.
The Tars will return to Warden Arena Saturday, Oct. 1 for a
match-up against the Florida Tech Panthers. First serve is set for
