FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (January 29, 2011) - A
pair of Nick
Wolf free throws extended the Rollins Tars (15-4, 7-1) win
streak to seven as the Tars defeated the Nova Southeastern Sharks
62-61 on Saturday at the Don Taft University Center.
Senior Nick
Wolf paced the Tars with 21 points and 11 rebounds for his
14th double-double of the season. Matt
Robertson followed with 18 points, four assists, four rebounds,
and one steal, while Nikola
Baran chipped in with 12 points and one steal.
After leading by 12 at the half, Rollins found themselves
battling from behind in the second. The Tars led at the half,
32-20, after keeping NSU scoreless throughout most of the middle of
the half.
In the opening minutes of the second, Rollins led by as many as
13 and then trailed by as many as five with 6:27 on the clock. The
Tars slowly rallied from behind and tied the score at 58-58 with
3:34 on the clock on a 3-pointer by Nick
Wolf. Rollins took advantage of a missed NSU shot and followed
with another shot by Wolf to put Rollins on top, 60-58.
With the heat building up, NSU called for a timeout, which
worked in their favor as Nova's Alex Gynes scored three from beyond
the arc to put the Sharks up by one, 61-60. Each team followed
with a missed shot of their own, but with 8.5 seconds on the clock,
NSU's Lemar Dyer fouled drawing Wolf to the line where he sank both
free throws to secure the win.
Rollins returns to Warden Arena to start the month of February
where they will host the Tampa Spartans on Feb. 2. Tip-off is
slated for 7:30 p.m. For live action of the Rollins Tars, check
