WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 22, 2011) - Nick Wolf

recorded his second straight double-double and led Rollins to a 79-68 victory over archrival Florida Southern on Saturday, keeping the Tars atop the Sunshine State Conference standings.

Wolf netted a game-high 23 points and matched his career best with 16 rebounds to lead Rollins, (14-4, 6-1 SSC) among a rowdy crowd at Warden Arena. The senior was 8-of-16 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers, and was 5-of-6 from the line. Wolf is now just one point out of fourth place on the Tars all-time scoring list with 1721 career points. He is also third all-time with 907 career rebounds.

Ian Scott added 14 points and two steals while Alex Castillo chipped in 12 points off the bench.

Rion Rayfield paced Florida Southern (13-5, 5-2 SSC) with 13 points while Andre Hawkins and Brett Bailey each scored 11. The Mocs were playing without two starters due to illness and injury, including leading scorer Terry Jenkins.

Rollins established the tempo early and ran out to a 13-4 lead over the first six minutes. Nikola Baran extended the lead to 13 at the 6:22 mark with his second of three 3-pointers. The Tars held a 34-23 lead with less than four minutes to play, but the Mocs outscored the hosts 8-3 to end the half, making the count 37-31, Rollins at intermission.

Florida Southern scored the first seven points of the second half and took its first lead of the game, 38-37, after a Brandon Jenkins triple. Wolf hit a twisting layup on the ensuing possession to regain the lead for the Tars, which they would not relinquish the rest of the game.

Southern closed to within five, three times with under six minutes to play, before a Scott 3-pointer ignited a 7-0 Rollins run that put the game out of reach for the Mocs. Scott also provided the exclamation point with a dunk on the final play, redeeming himself for a missed slam earlier in the game.

The Tars shot 54 percent in the second half and 47 percent (28-60) for the game while holding FSC to just 39 percent (26-66) from the floor. The Mocs won on the boards, 40-37.

Rollins and Tampa are now tied atop the Sunshine State Conference standings with one game left in the first half of the league schedule.

The Tars will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Lynn and will follow with a trip to Nova Southeastern on Saturday, Jan. 29. Fans can catch all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
