SAINT LEO, FLA. (January 15, 2011) - The
Rollins men's basketball team extended their win-streak over the
Saint Leo University Lions to 26, securing an 85-73 victory over
their Sunshine State Conference opponent on the road Saturday
afternoon.
Rollins advances to an overall mark of 12-4, and jumps to 4-1 in
Sunshine State Conference play, while the Lions drop to 9-6 and 1-5
in SSC action.
Leading the way for Rollins were seniors Nick Wolf and Myk
Brown, who netted 23 and 22 points, respectively. Tallying the
Tars' final double-digit scoring total for the day was Nikola
Baran, who walked away with 11 points, and one board shy of a
double-double with nine rebounds.
The Lions saw double-digit scoring efforts from three
individuals, with Jamal Thompson posting a team best 17 points.
Matt Kendrick and Jason Jeremy tallied twelve apiece, with Robinson
shooting 4-of-7 from long range.
The Tars shot 56 percent from the field, while draining an
impressive 90 percent from the charity stripe. Brown led the Tars
from beyond the arc, draining 5-of-10 and shooting a perfect 5-of-5
from the free throw line.
Rollins held as much as a 14 point lead with 13:04 before the
break, but the Lions whittled away at the deficit to close the gap
to six by halftime. Despite SLU's late first half run, the Tars
made easy work of their opponent in the second half, extending
their lead to as much as 20.
The Tars return to action on Wednesday, January 19, when they
host Florida Tech at Warden Arena. Fans who cannot make it to the
