Savannah, Ga. (September 11, 2010) - A
three-set match was all it took for the Tars volleyball program to
defeat the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers, 3-0, this Saturday morning
at the Alumni Arena. With the win, the Tars are now 6-1 for the
season, while the Chargers drop to 1-6 overall.
Rollins took the first two sets by a score of 25-19 and the
third and final set by a score of 25-20. The Tars hit .269 in the
three-set victory over the Chargers, who hit .083.
Sarah
Mendoza tallied a match-high 12 kills along with 13 digs. Camille
Indest led the Tars attack with a .409 hitting percentage as
she went 11-for-22 with four digs and two blocks. Kelly
Merideth chipped in with four kills, a match-high 24 assists,

Alabama-Huntsville managed to stay with the Tars in the first
set, but after Sarah
Mendoza tied the score on a kill, Jenny
Sherwood scored back-to-back kills to lead the way for the
win. Another Mendoza kill secured the 25-19 victory in set
one.
The second time around the Tars managed to maintain their lead,
but allowed Alabama-Huntsville to come within one early on in the
game. Jenny
Sherwood and Megan
Hodges secured the win on back-to-back blocks. With two in the
books, the Tars continued their momentum into the third game and
slid past the Chargers after UAH's Kaeli McCaghren was unable to
return a Sarah
Mendoza serve.
The Tars close out the 2010 Pirate Volleyball Classic at 2:30
p.m. as they face North Alabama (4-2).
