No. 10 Tars Down No. 28 UC San Diego for Third Straight Win

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 8, 2010) -

Rollins knocked off its third straight nationally ranked opponent, Monday as the 10th-ranked Tars defeated 28th-ranked UC San Diego 7-2 to being their spring break trip to the west coast.

In doubles play, Nick Rowlands and Pablo Seijo moved to the No. 1 position and upset 17th-ranked Armaun Emami and Austin West 8-6 to highlight the first half of the match for Rollins (5-4). Arturo Baravalle and Girts Dzelde defeated Jake Fellow and Champman Chan 8-4 in the No. 2 spot and Jeff Morris and Constantin Sturdza took Naveen Dixit and Sam Ling 8-5 at No. 3.

Morris continued his stellar play in singles, picking up his eighth straight win at the top position, defeating Chan 6-2, 6-0. Baravalle moved to No. 2 for the first time on the season and downed Fellow 6-4, 6-3. Rollins also got points from Girts Dzelde, who downed Vincent Nguyen 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4, and Chris Herbert, who took Dixit 6-4, 7-6 in the 5th position.

Rollins will continue their spring break trip Tuesday, Mar. 9 at Cal Poly Pomona.
