Frame were stifling in the circle, leading the 19th-ranked
Rollins softball team to a 5-0 win over Franklin Pierce and 4-0
victory over UMass-Lowell on Friday.
Rollins improves to 19-3 on the season while dropping the Raves to
4-9 and the Riverhawks to 7-6.
In the opener, hosted at the National Training Center in Clermont,
Roser allowed just two Franklin Pierce hits while recording nine
strikeouts and no walks, improving her record to 4-2 on the year.
Frame had a no-hitter through six and a third against UMass-Lowell
and improved to 13-1 on the season, surrendering one single with
nine strikeouts and one walk.
Amber Pederson led the Tars
against FPU, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a pair of
stolen bases.
The Tars announced their presence with authority, as Lauren Caldwell led
off the opening game with a triple, ripped down the right field
line. She later stole home to put Rollins up 1-0. Still in the
first, Roser drew a walk and made her way to third on a wild pitch
and stolen base. Jessica
Moreland then put the Tars up 2-0 with a RBI single to plate
Roser.
Rollins got two more in the fifth as Pederson and Roser led off
with back-to-back singles with Pederson scoring on a fielder's
choice from Moreland and Roser taking advantage of a Ravens error.
The Tars tacked on an insurance run in the sixth as Pederson
smacked a two-out single and eventually scored on a FPU error.
In the night cap against UML, Caldwell went 2-for-4 with two runs
scored while Roser and Meredith
Foster each batted 2-for-3.
The Tars went up 2-0 in the bottom of the third with Brittney Pumpelly and
Caldwell racking up back-to-back triples with Caldwell's scoring
Pumpelly. Caldwell was later knocked home on a Pederson single.
Rollins pulled away in the fifth, manufacturing a run with Roser
batting home Caldwell and capped the game off in the sixth as
Foster led off with a double and later scored on a Lowell
error.
Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 20 at home against
Hillsdale College. First pitch of game one is slated for 1 p.m.
