WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 18, 2010)-
The Rollins softball used a two-game series sweep of St. Thomas
Aquinas to get back on the winning track, 8-0 and 16-2, Thursday
evening. With the victories the Tars improve to 17-3, while St.
Thomas falls to 0-2 on the season.
Kirsten
Frame improved her record to 12-1 with a complete game
no-hitter, while collecting 10 strikeouts on the day. Frame drops
her ERA to 1.19 on the season and continues to pitch well for the
Tars.
Rollins used its offense early and often to post the 8-0 victory in
six innings. The Tars scored one run in the first and second
innings then collected two in the third, three in the fifth and
finished things off with one in the sixth.
Krista
Rodden and Vanessa Volkema used their
big bats to each collect two RBIs on the day, while Kristina
Holland chipped in with one.
The offense started out slow, but picked up steam as everybody on
the team collected at least one hit. As a team the Tars are hitting
.357 collectively en route to their stellar 17-3 record.
With the victory the Tars get back to the winning ways after
dropping two games to Valdosta St.
Game two of the doubleheader saw the bats stay hot as the Tars
pummeled the Spartans 16-2 in the nightcap.
Christine Roser collected
her third win of the season to improve to 3-2. Roser also helped
her cause going 1-for-3 on the evening.
Brittney
Pumpelly led all Tars with three RBIs, while Lauren Caldwell and
Rodden each tallied two RBIs to propel the offense.
This game also saw every time register a hit that was credited with
an official at bat as the Tars posted six runs in the second and
eight in the third on their way to a 16-3 victory.
Rollins will look to keep the momentum going when they travel to
the National Training Center in Clermont to take on Franklin-Pierce
and U-Mass Lowell.
