Tars Score Second Straight Shutout Over Augustana

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 16, 2010) -

The Rollins men's tennis team picked up their second shutout in as many days as the 10th-ranked Tars defeated Augustana (SD) 9-0.

The victory moves Rollins to 8-5 on the season while Augustana falls to 3-4.

Rollins set the tone early, dropping just one point in doubles play. Nick Rowlands and Girts Dzelde blanked Dillon Karras and Neal Gregerson at No. 2 while Pablo Seijo and Constantin Strudza shutout Dane Rasmussen and JD Careles at No. 3. Jeff Morris and Neil Clausen defeated Evan Gardner and Jared Drenkow 8-1 in the No. 3 match.

Morris made easy work of Drenkow in the top singles spot, winning 6-1, 6-1 while 14th-ranked Clausen defeated Gardner 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. Andrew Mulick scored a 6-2, 6-3 win over Karras in the No. 3 match and Andrew Johnson picked up a 6-0, 6-4 decision over Gregerson at No. 4. Graham Ely took Rasmussen 6-2, 7-5 at No. 5 and Hein Nguyen completed the Tars sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Carrels.

Rollins will be right back on the courts on Wednesday, Mar. 17, hosting NAIA powerhouse Auburn-Montgomery at 2:30 p.m.
