WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 28, 2010) -
The 11th-ranked Rollins women's tennis team fell into an early
hole and couldn't dig out, falling to second-ranked Lynn 7-2 in a
rescheduled match Sunday afternoon.
The Tars fall to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in Sunshine State Conference
play while the Fighting Knights improve to 5-0, 1-0 SSC.
In the top doubles match, Margaret Junker and Kayli
Ragsdale were serving for the match at 7-6 against 10th-ranked
Katerina Jiskrova and Magdalene Ekert, but couldn't close the door
and fell 9-7.
Roshni Luthra and Lisa Loft dropped an
8-4 decision to 12th-ranked Tessie Salame and Alison Siaci while Stefania Tkach and Holly
Fleming fell to Jessica Yanoff and Eleonora Iannozzi 8-5 at No.
3.
Fleming picked up a big win in singles play for the Tars, upsetting
14th-ranked Ekert 6-1, 1-6, 10-7 in the No. 2 slot. In a battle of
ranked players at No. 1 singles, 20th-ranked Luthra fell to
11th-ranked Jiskrova 6-2, 4-6, 10-8.
The Rollins women's tennis team will be back in action on Tuesday,
Mar. 2, hosting Brenau University at 2:30 p.m. at the Tiedtke
Tennis Courts.
