Rollins Meets Warner on the Hardwood Friday

At a Glance - After a brief trip to Sunshine State Conference play on Wednesday, 17th-ranked Rollins will continue its nonconference season with a home tilt against Warner University. The contest is the second in a string of four home games in seven days for the Tars. Rollins split a pair of games at the Valdosta State Tip-off Classic last weekend, beating Delta State by 12 and falling in a shootout, 93-83 to Valdosta State. They returned home on Wednesday to win their SSC opener over Nova Southeastern, 78-66. Seniors Matt Robertson and Nick Wolf have emerged as the Tars' workhorses with each logging more than 37 minutes a game. Robertson is putting up a team-best 19.3 points and 4.3 assists per game to go along with 7.3 boards. Wolf, a preseason All-America selection, is nearly averaging a double-double with 17.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game while also racking up eight blocks, tying him for the team lead with Ian Scott...Warner University is 3-0 in official games, but lost in exhibition play to Nova Southeastern (85-83) and Florida Atlantic (88-58). In their three contests, the Royals offense is producing 95 points a game, including a 115-81 romp over Trinity. Brennan Taylor is netting 16.7 points a game to lead six players averaging in double-figures. Malcolm Campbell is getting 16 points a night with Adam Branch putting up 13 and hauling in a team-leading 8.7 rebounds...Rollins senior guard Alex Castillo played two seasons with Warner and averaged 10.1 points in 60 total games as a Royal...WU head coach Sean Hanrahan served on Tom Klusman's staff for two seasons (1999-01) as an assistant coach and strength & conditioning coordinator.

The Series - Rollins leads the series with Warner 10-2. Last season, the two teams met in Winter Park on December 2, 2009 with the Tars winning 79-49. Nick Wolf scored 15 to lead four Tars in double-figures while Derell Hendrson netted 16 to pace the Royals.

The Stars - Nick Wolf and Matt Robertson have been on a tear to begin the 2010-11 season with each averaging near double-doubles. Robertson is netting a team-leading 19.3 points per game with Wolf putting up 17.7 a night. Wolf, with 1413 career points, ranks 16th on the Tars all-time scoring list and needs just 53 more points to crack the top-15. He is also fourth on the Tars all-time rebounding list with 753 career boards...Sophomore guard Brennan Taylor leads the Royals potent offense with 16.7 points per game while junior Malcolm Campbell is netting 16 a night.

The Coaches - Rollins legend Tom Klusman (Rollins '76) returns for his 31st year at the helm of the Tars program. He has a career record of 552-312, all with the Tars...Sean Hanrahan (Hanover) is in his fifth year leading Warner University and holds a record of 81-43.

The Rankings - Rollins checked in at No. 13 in the Division II Bulletin preseason poll and No. 17 in the NABC Poll. The Tars were picked to finish first in the Sunshine State Conference preseason rankings...Warner Southern did not receive any votes in the NAIA preseason poll and was picked third in The Sun Conference preseason rankings.
