Winter Park, Fla. (October 29, 2010) - Three
Tars in double-figure kills pushed Rollins (17-8, 6-6) past the
Saint Leo Lions for a 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-20) victory this
Saturday afternoon at Warden Arena.
Rollins snapped a six match losing streak over the Saint Leo
Lions (12-12, 7-6) as they returned the favor winning all three
sets by scores of 25-20.
Sarah
Mendoza led the pack with her 16th double-double of
the season with 18 kills and 12 digs. Camille
Indest hit a .500 with 14 kills, to go along with three
blocks. Megan
Hodges chipped in with 11 kills, seven digs, and two block
solos.
The Tars cruised on by the Lions in games one and two and found
themselves in a bit of a roadblock in game three. The last and
final set saw eight ties and two lead changes with the final tie
coming on a block by Megan
Hodges. On the next serve, the Tars were able to take the
final lead on a kill by Camille
Indest.
As a team, Rollins hit .316 to Saint Leo's .180. Phoebe
Corder tied her season-high of 22 digs, to go along with three
assists, while Sarah
Mendoza tallied 12 digs. Of the 50 total kills by the Tars, 45
were accredited to Kiana
Parks.
With the win, Rollins improves to 17-8 for the season and 6-6 in
Sunshine State Conference action, while the Saint Leo Lions drop to
12-12 overall and 7-6 in conference play.
The Tars hit the road once again as they travel to south Florida
and face Barry on Friday, Nov. 5. First serve is slated for 7
