Valdosta, Ga. (October 15, 2010) - In a forced game five over the Valdosta State Blazers, the Rollins Tars (14-6) captured a 3-2 victory (24-26, 25-19, 25-22, 25-27, 15-13) this Friday afternoon at The Complex on the campus of Valdosta State University.

Rollins was led by three Tars in double-figure kills with Sarah Mendoza tallying 19 kills and a season-high 27 digs for her 11th double-double of the season, along with three blocks. Megan Hodges notched 15 kills with 13 digs and two blocks, while Camille Indest tied her season-high of 13 kills and posted a season-high seven blocks.

"Intensity levels were high in tonight's win. We played great defense and we are maturing as a team. This is our second game five win this season and is a great boost in the regional rankings," said head coach Sindee Snow.

As the Tars were off to a sluggish start in game one hitting a mere .104, Rollins pushed it to extra points on Valdosta's match point, but fell 26-24. Coming out of the gates fierce in game two, the Tars turned the tables on the Blazers (15-6) and took the set 25-19. Rollins improved their attack with a .217 hitting percentage, while holding VSU to a .026 attack percentage.

Tied at 1-all heading into game three, Rollins fell short 25-19, but forced a game five with a 27-25 win in game four. Intensity levels rose in game five with five ties, but the Tars kept their composure and won 15-13.

The 2010 season has found the Tars in the top-5 in all-time statistical categories. A week ago, Rollins tallied a season-high 100 digs against Sunshine State Conference foe-Eckerd. The Tars smashed that record this afternoon as they tallied an all-time program record of 123 digs. Rollins also found themselves in the top-5 in blocks with 15 total to place them second all-time.

Five Tars tallied double-figure digs with Phoebe Corder tying her season-high of 28 digs, Mendoza with 27, Kiana Parks (58 assists) and Kayla Austin with 14 a piece, and Hodges with 13.

The Tars close out the Wingate by Wyndham Classic with a 4:30 p.m. match up against West Georgia tomorrow afternoon. For live stats, check out RollinsSports.com.
