Valdosta, Ga. (October 15, 2010) - Sarah
Mendoza and Megan
Hodges led the Tars (13-6, 4-4) to a 3-0 sweep over the
Alabama-Huntsville Chargers this Friday afternoon at The Complex on
the campus of Valdosta State University.
In their second face-off of the year, the Tars held
Alabama-Huntsville (8-14) to less than a .100 attack percentage in
each of the three games during the match. Rollins hit .375 in game
one and won 25-15. In game two, the Tars hit .220 for a 25-19
victory and returned for game three with a 25-15 win and a .414
attack percentage.
Making quick work of their opponent in game one, Rollins'
momentum was thought to have slipped right at match point in game
two. UAH managed to score twice before the Tars sealed the deal on
a kill by Caitlin
Vyborny. Vyborny finished the match with a .636 hitting
percentage on seven kills.
The Tars saw multiple changes at the libero position as Phoebe
Corder started the match and was switched out with Christina
Carracino in game two. Corder then resumed her position for
game three. Corder and Carracino each tallied eight digs a
piece.
Leading the Tars was freshman Megan
Hodges with 15 kills for a .343 attack percentage, to go along
with three blocks and seven digs. Sarah
Mendoza tallied 13 kills and 12 digs for her 10th
double-double of the season. Mendoza hit .440, to go along with
two blocks, an ace and an assist.
With the Tars back in full swing, Rollins improves to 13-6 for
the season, while Alabama-Huntsville drops to 8-14 overall.
The Rollins Tars next face host-Valdosta State at 7 p.m. at the
