WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 11, 2009) - Two
matches featuring four undefeated teams, three of which are
nationally ranked, will be contested Friday night at Barker Family
Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field in Winter Park.
The No. 9 Rollins women will face No. 2 West Florida in the
night's first match-up at 5 p.m. The Tars enter the match 3-0-1 and
haven't surrendered a goal all season while the Argos are 3-0 on
the season, also without allowing a score. Last season the two
teams battled to a scoreless tie in Pensacola which eventually
became the Argos only blemish in the regular season. The two
schools met again in the third round of the NCAA Division II
Tournament with UWF downing Rollins 2-0. West Florida then went on
to become the national runners-up. The Tars will be riding a 23
game regular season unbeaten streak into the contest and have won
17 of their last 18 regular season matches at home.
Following the marquee women's match up, the undefeated Rollins
men will host 15th-ranked West Florida at 7:30 p.m. The Tars tied
and beat a pair of ranked opponents last weekend in San Antonio and
haven't allowed a goal this season en route to a 3-0-1 record. The
Tars are 2-6 all-time against the Argos with their last win coming
on September 9, 2005 in Winter Park by a score of 3-2.
