MIAMI SHORES, Fla.
(April 25, 2009) - The Rollins softball team defeated
Barry University Saturday evening, 1-0.
With the win the Tars improve to 44-8 overall and 16-6 in the
conference and with the loss Barry falls to 30-17 overall and 14-8
in the conference.
Rollins struck first on the scoreboard as Monica
Meadows scored the run for the Tars. Monica
Meadows led the top half of the first inning off with a leadoff
walk. Kristina
Holland followed up with a sacrifice bunt that moved Meadows to
second. Monica
Meadows then moved to third on a wild pitch by Amber Jack. Jamie
Rausch would triple to center field and that would be enough to
bring Monica
Meadows home for the first run of the game.
The game would go scoreless the rest of the way, as neither team
could push across a run.
The game saw plenty of defense from the Tars as the outfield made
spectacular catches to keep the Buccaneers off the base paths.
Nicole
Anderson improves to 25-5 on the season and drops her ERA to
0.68. After collecting 4 strikeouts, Anderson is only 23 from the
conference record of 1,209.
