BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 16, 2009) –
Rollins swept through doubles and picked up two quick singles
points to post a 5-0 victory over Florida Tech in the opening round
of the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Tournament.
The third seed Tars will take on second seed Florida Southern in
the first semifinal match on Friday, April 17 at 8:30 a.m. Rollins
fell to Florida Southern 5-4 in their only match-up this
season.
The top flight doubles match was between the Tars 13th ranked
team of Kayli
Ragsdale and Margaret
Junker and the Panthers' 20th ranked Abigail Greif and Natalia
Ramos. The tandem from Rollins jumped ahead early and cruised to an
8-1 victory. Roshni
Luthra and Holly
Fleming took the No. 2 match over Andrea Madrigal and Monica
Price 8-4 with Allie
Steele and Stefaniya
Tkach winning a 9-8(6) marathon over Nicole David and Alexis
Weinning.
In singles play, Steele picked up a quick 6-0, 6-1 win over
Weinning at No. 6 and Junker sealed up the Tars win at No. 4,
defeating Price 6-0, 6-1.
