SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 7, 2009) – The
11th ranked Rollins women's tennis team opened up their spring
break trip with an 8-1 win over Hawaii-Hilo, Saturday
afternoon.
With the win, the Tars improve to 9-0 on the season.
Margaret Juker and Kayli
Ragsdale took Eve Castaing and Christine Pagatpatan 8-4 in the
top doubles spot while Holly
Fleming and Roshni
Luthra downed Nicol Campbell and Justine Abella 8-2 in the No.
2 slot.
Allie
Steele and Stefaniya
Tkach blanked Akimi Kifune and Kari Rodrigues 8-0 in the No. 3
position to complete the Tars sweep.
Castaing beat Luthra 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match for
Hilo's lone point. Fleming defeated Campbell 7-5, 7-5 at No. 2,
Tkach was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Abella at No. 3 and Junker downed
Kifune 6-0, 6-1.
Steele was a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 victory over DeCleene and No. 5 and
Bradleigh
Lore won the No. 6 match 6-2, 6-2 over McGuffie.
Rollins will be right back at it on Monday, taking on Cal Poly
Pomona in Pomona, Calif.
