WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2009) – Adrian
Tan downed the 16th ranked singles player in the nation at No.
1 singles, but Northwood (Mich.) proved to be too much as the No.
10 Tars were upset by the No. 20 Timberwolves 6-3, Thursday.
Rollins falls to 6-3 on the season while Northwood improves to
5-0, including an upset win over No. 17 Florida Southern in their
previous match.
Tan and Jeff
Morris teamed to down Bertrand Vigourouz and Oliver Brignoli
8-2 in the No. 2 doubles match for the Tars lone doubles point. Neil
Clausen and Bill
Rockwood fell to Peter Kazianschuetz and Frederic Schloezel
9-8(2) in the No. 1 match while Gustavo
Carvalho and Nick
Rowlands were bested by Maxime Dutors and Alex Minicozzi 8-5 in
the No. 3 flight.
Tan picked up a huge win in the top flight singles match,
downing 16th ranked Kazianschuetz 7-6(2), 6-1. No. 27 Clausen held
rank over Schoetzel 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 match while 35th ranked
Morris fell to Vigouroux 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 3.
Carvalho lost a three-set match to Brignoli at No. 4; 3-6, 6-3,
6-3; Rowlands fell to Dutors 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 and Rockwood was
defeated by Minicozzi 7-5, 7-5 in the No. 6 match.
Rollins will be back on the courts on Friday, Mar. 6 hosting
Grand Valley State at 3:30 p.m.
