BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 22, 2009) – A six
hour match came down to a third set tiebreaker, but Rollins
couldn't come up with the decisive point as the 14th ranked Tars
fell to third ranked Lynn 5-4 in Sunshine State Conference action
Sunday afternoon.
Rollins falls to 10-4 on the year and 1-1 in SSC play while the
Fighting Knights improve to 11-0, 3-0 SSC.
The match came down to the No. 4 singles match up between the
Tars Gustavo
Carvalho and Lynn's Alessandro Sarra. Carvalho won the first
set with a 7-5 tiebreaker victory while Sarra took the second frame
7-5. The third set again went into a tie breaker with Sarra winning
7-3.
Rollins picked up one point in doubles play with Carvalho and Neil
Clausen downing Sarra and Luca Pavanelli 8-6 in the No. 2
position. Miloslav Navratil and Julien Carsuzaa downed Adrian
Tan and Jeff
Morris 8-3 in the top spot with Tomas Racak and Axel Joachim
defeating Nick
Rowlands and Bill
Rockwood 8-4 in the No. 3 match.
Neil
Clausen, ranked 27th, scored an upset win over 15th ranked
Racak 6-4, 3-6, 5-5, retired in the No. 2 match with 35th ranked
Morris downing Navratil 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3 slot. Bill
Rockwood was the Tars third singles point with a 7-5, 6-2 win
over Joachim at No. 6.
Rollins will look to get back to their winning ways on
Wednesday, Mar. 25 at home against 7th ranked Ouchita Baptist.
