WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 19, 2009) –
Rollins fell in the top flighted matches, but showed their depth as
the 11th ranked Tars downed Division I Long Island 6-3 Thursday
evening.
Rollins moves to 13-0 on the season while Long Island falls to
2-5.
Margaret
Junker and Kayli
Ragsdale, Division II's 15th ranked doubles tandem, fell to
Selma Babic and H'Ann Johnson 9-7 in the No. 1 doubles match. The
Tars bounced back as Roshni
Luthra and Holly
Fleming teamed to down Stephanie Elie and Amy Hosotsuji 8-2 at
No. 2 and Allie
Steele teamed with Stefaniya
Tkach to win 8-6 over Ashley Harvey and Dara Lahen in the No. 3
match.
Babic bested Luthra 5-7, 6-0, 7-6(5) in the top seeded singles
match and Harvey posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Fleming at No. 2. Tkach
won over Johnson 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3 with Junker scoring a 6-1, 6-0
win over Lahen at No. 4. Steele was a 6-0, 6-4 win over Elie at No.
5 and Ragsdale posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Hosotsuji in the No. 6
match.
Rollins will jump back into their Sunshine State Conference
schedule on Sunday, Mar. 22 at Lynn.
