WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 13, 2009) Nicole
Anderson
tallied 10 strikeouts to lead No. 16 Rollins past conference foe
Florida Southern 3-0, Friday evening.
Anderson improved to 12-1 on the year as she pitched a complete
game shutout against the Moccasins. Anderson did not allow a run as
she surrendered two hits and collected 10 strikeouts. With her
performance tonight Anderson now has 1,020 strikeouts in her career
at Rollins. Brittany Minton suffered her third loss of the season
after surrendering three runs on four hits, while striking out only
six.
Monica
Meadows provided most of the offense as she collected two
homeruns in the game. Meadows now has tallied seven homeruns this
season, as that is good for second on the team. Also knocking in a
solo homerun was Christine
Roser. Roser moves to 10 homeruns on the season, which is good
for second in the conference.
The Tars filled out the score sheet as Meadows' homeruns came in
the third and fifth inning.
Florida Southern was not able to get anything going as Anderson
showed great command as she went through the order. The Mocs were
not able to put a runner in scoring position all night as that
compounded their offensive woes.
Rollins and Florida Southern will complete their three game series
on Saturday, March 14 with a 1 p.m. doubleheader. Fans can catch
all the action live on the Citizens Bank of Florida Tars Sports
Network at RollinsSports.com.
