WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 14, 2009) -

The Rollins College softball team was swept in doubleheader action against Florida Southern, Saturday afternoon, 3-2 and 13-1.

With the two losses the Tars fall to 24-4 overall and fall to 3-3 in the Sunshine State Conference, while Florida Southern improves to 19-6 and 4-2 in the conference. Nicole Anderson drops to 12-3 on the season as the offense could not get going against the pitching of Florida Southern.

The first game saw the Tars fall behind 2-0 after the Moccasins posted two runs. Rollins responded by scoring two runs of its own. Holland and Almengual were responsible for the runs as they reached safely on a single and walk, respectively. Christine Roser and Missy Thogmartin each collected RBIs as they both reached on singles.

The game was tied until the Mocs came up to bat in the top half of the sixth were they posted the winning run as Peggy Alex came around to score. Alex reached on a double and then moved over on a wild pitch. Lindsey Powell grounded out to the pitcher to score Alex from third.

The seventh inning saw both teams stymied by pitching as the Moc secured the win.

The lone run came in the bottom of the seventh as Kristina Holland came around to score after she reached on a single to start the inning off.
