HOUSTON, Texas (March 13, 2009) Rollins
sophomore Kamel Tejeda picked up a 12th place finish in the 500
yard freestyle in the 2009 NCAA Division II National Swimming and
Diving Championships, Friday night. The event is being held as part
of the Division II Sports Festival in Houston.
After swimming the 1000 and 200 yard freestyles on back to back
days, Tejeda jumped back in the pool Friday morning for the 500
yard prelims. He was seeded seventh entering the event and posted a
time of 4:31.61, 11th best of the morning session. In the finals,
Tejeda went 4:12.07 and finished 13th.
Tejeda will complete the event on Saturday, Mar. 14 with the
1650 yard freestyle.
