San Antonio, Texas (February 7, 2009) – The Rollins softball team completed its five game series Saturday as they beat Texas Women's University 9-1 in five innings. The Tars ended their tournament run with a 4-1 record as the only blemish on the record was against Abilene Christian.

Leading the way for the Tars were outfielders Rachael Foster and Monica Meadows as they combined to hit 4-for-6 and collecting five RBIs. The Tars bats have been hot all tournament long as the team combined to hit .500.

Rollins fell behind early as they gave up one run in the top half of the first inning, as Tiffanie Brown reached base on a single through the left side. Brown stole second base and eventually scored on a single by Angie Arebalos.

The Tars started the scoring in the bottom half of the first inning as Monica Meadows drew a walk to reach first. Meadows then stole second and came around to score as Christine Roser singled to collect her eight RBI of the tournament.

The second inning saw the Tars post two more runs on the board as Rachel Almengual reached on a walk, and Morgan Frost reached on a fielders choice. Frost and Almengual each came around to score as Rachael Foster would hit a single down the left field line.

Nicole Anderson found her groove after giving up one run in the first inning as she only allowed six hits in five innings of work. Anderson improves to 3-0 on the season with a 1.11 ERA as she looks to have a stellar senior season. The Tars posted five more runs in third inning as Frost, Almengual, and Foster each collected an RBI. The inning saw Monica Meadows collect two RBIs as she singled through the left side as Frost and Almengual came around to score.

The Tars came up in the bottom of the fifth inning needing one more run to invoke the eight run rule and they got it as Rachel Almengual reached on a walked. Missy Thogmartin would do battle with Alli Packer and eventually would single to bring home Almengual to end the game.

Next up for the Tars will be when Rollins hosts Flagler for a doubleheader at 5 p.m. Fans be sure to check RollinsSports.com for all the latest news and information.
